Defy Age with These Fine Line Reduction Techniques

Defy Age with These Fine Line Reduction Techniques

Wrinkles and fine lines may be a natural part of aging, but no one likes noticing them pop up. If you want to reduce your wrinkles and bring back your smooth skin, you’ve come to the right place.

Leslie Forrester, APRN, and our experienced aesthetic team at Wrinkle Fairy provide many services to rejuvenate your skin and diminish the signs of aging. With offices in Chicago, Oakbrook Terrace, Arlington Heights, and Naperville, Illinois, we’ve got you covered.

We know prevention is often the best medicine when it comes to wrinkles. This guide gives you our best tips for reducing wrinkles—before and after they start!

Professional therapies

Anti-aging treatments are among the best ways to reduce the appearance of troublesome wrinkles. Our team develops a wrinkle-reducing treatment plan personalized to your unique skin goals and needs. We offer advanced anti-aging services, including:

A household name for anti-aging solutions, Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles, softening the look of fine lines. Botox is especially effective in tackling frown lines and crow’s feet, and the results last for months.

Dermal Fillers

Facial, or dermal, fillers restore any lost volume and smooth away your wrinkles, especially around the mouth and cheeks. Fillers also add volume, giving you that fuller, youthful look.

Laser Resurfacing

Our laser resurfacing treatments deliver concentrated light energy to your skin, directly targeting and treating fine lines. This stimulates collagen production and improves the appearance of loose, wrinkled skin.

Diamond Glow

Another skin resurfacing treatment, Diamond Glow reduces your wrinkles and lines while restoring a youthful glow to your face. A three-step process of exfoliation, extraction, and infusion to remove the top layer of skin and reveal a fresh, youthful face.

Vampire Facials® and Facelifts®

Both Vampire Facials and Facelifts use the power of your natural growth factors to reduce wrinkles and fine lines. These therapies use a combination of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and microneedling or dermal fillers to bring a youthful look to your face.

Often, these aesthetic treatments are combined to get the best results, and your personalized plan reflects this. For instance, you may use dermal fillers to smooth lines around your lips and nose and Botox to target lines around your eyes and forehead.

Lifestyle changes to reduce lines and wrinkles

The aforementioned treatments are a great way to reduce signs of aging, but there are important steps for your everyday lifestyle that can also help diminish fine lines. Here’s a look:

Get your beauty sleep and beware the sun

Getting enough sleep each night reduces wrinkles and slows the formation of any new creases or lines. This is because your skin produces collagen as you sleep, making it a super important step in your skincare routine!

To make the most out of this collagen production, use good sleep habits to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night, sleep on your back to take the pressure off delicate facial skin, and use retinol cream or coconut oil before bed to protect your skin.

In addition to getting enough sleep, avoiding too much sunlight can help protect your skin from wrinkles. Ultraviolet radiation (UV) from the sun (and tanning beds) triggers photoaging, premature aging of your skin.

Use sunscreen everyday, especially on your face, to protect yourself from photoaging. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that’s SPF 30 or higher, and ask your Wrinkle Fairy provider for specific recommendations. And don’t forget to reapply every two hours during long periods outside!

Consider what you put in your body

What we put in our bodies has a direct correlation with how we look. Foods, drinks, and tobacco use all play a big role in preventing or increasing fine lines and wrinkles.

Nicotine in cigarettes narrows the blood vessels at the surface of your skin, reducing blood flow. This means your skin isn’t able to get the nutrients and vitamins it needs, reducing its health and making it more prone to wrinkles. Additionally, the toxic chemicals in tobacco damage collagen and elastin, and the muscles you use to smoke create fine lines around your mouth.

Though drinking can be fun, alcohol is no fun for wrinkle prevention. Alcohol dehydrates your skin, meaning it can make fine lines and wrinkles more noticeable. This can be even more prominent if you have naturally dry skin.

You can reduce bothersome wrinkles by taking care of what you eat and drink. Stay hydrated with lots of water, and choose nutrient-rich foods. Foods high in antioxidants, like blueberries and kale, help keep your skin healthier since antioxidants reduce damage to your cells.
